Ford Explorer: Available Trim levels
The Explorer is available in these six unique trim levels:
- Explorer: The base trim includes all the standard features and capabilities you'll be looking forward to, such as the Rear Sensing System and rear-wheel drive (RWD).
- XLT: This trim will include many of the features of the base model, and it will offer enhanced comfort with the available ActiveXâ„¢ Seating Material.
- Limited: The mid trim level takes that comfort even further with the standard leather seating surfaces and second-row heated outboard seats.
- ST: If you're looking for sporty performance, check out the ST trim. Its sport-tuned suspension and standard Intelligent 4-wheel drive (4WD) are only the tip of the iceberg.
- King Ranch: The King Ranch trim surrounds you with luxury with its Del Rio leather seating in all rows.
- Platinum: As the highest trim level available, the Platinum trim includes exceptional style through features like the Illuminated Front Scruff Plates and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
While each trim level offers different features and capabilities, they are all undeniably powerful. Plus, with interior features like the moonroof found on higher trim levels, you know that every drive inside the Explorer will be memorable.
Inside the Ford Explorer
Across three rows, the Explorer offers seating for up to seven passengers. They'll all have loads of room to stretch out, since this Ford SUV comes with up to 152.7 cubic feet of passenger volume. It's also because of features like the tri-zone electronic automatic temperature control system that passengers will be comfortable too.
You'll also have the standard Lane-Keeping System, which will work to help you stay in your own lane. This system includes features such as:

Plus, the standard FordPass™ Connect with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot feature will make it easy for you to stay plugged in, no matter where the road leads you.
Explorer: On-Road Performance
With four powerful engines to choose from, the Ford Explorer offers some incredible capabilities. When properly equipped, it's able to tow up to 5,600 pounds. Plus, the Explorer earned an EPA-estimated 27 city/29 highway MPG.
It comes standard with RWD, which offers incredible strength, although the available Intelligent 4WD system is also exciting. You can also have the available Terrain Management System™, which will give you drive modes such as:
- Deep Snow/Sand
- Tow/Haul
- Slippery
